Next week we expect a decision on increasing the crossing for electricity imports - Brekht

Next week, the ENTSO-E's decision on expanding opportunities for importing electricity to Ukraine is expected. This was reported by acting Oleksiy Brekht, chairman of the board of NPC "Ukrenergo" during the Energy Day 2024 event, organized by the European Business Association.

"The ENTSO-E General Assembly was held last week. All spoke clearly and unequivocally in support of the decision to expand for imports. The following phrase sounded: "We hope that no participant, no operator will dare to even think about not supporting Ukraine," Oleksiy Brekht pointed out.

According to him, the calculations are currently being finalized and the corresponding decision should be announced next week. According to ExPro’s sources, this is an increase to 2.2 GW. Also, Oleksiy Brekht commented on the scenarios for the heating season.

"Actually, we have several scenarios for this winter. Two of them will not involve significant system restrictions," Oleksiy Brekht said.

As noted by acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, there is a risk of restrictions in the winter months, from December to February.

"The deficit is predicted to be relatively small - 120-150 MW with a base consumption in the power system of 16.5 GW", - points out Oleksiy Brekht.
