Naftogaz wants to attract American oil and gas companies to energy projects in Ukraine - FT

Naftogaz of Ukraine JSC held talks with American oil and gas companies Exxon Mobil, Halliburton, and Chevron regarding their involvement in energy projects in Ukraine, the Financial Times reports.

"We understand that it is quite difficult for private companies to operate during war, so we are working on insurance mechanisms to protect their capital. It will take some time. But we are not waiting - we are moving forward," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, chairman of the board of Naftogaz.

According to the FT, negotiations with Exxon and Chevron are at an early stage, so they need more time. Naftogaz hopes to sign a contract with Halliburton, which will help increase production to 13.5 bcm already this year, which is about 1 bcm higher than the level of 2022, says the FT article.

Chernyshov also said that he met with White House officials, members of Congress, and senators from both parties to attract greater political support for US investments in Ukraine's energy sector.
