Naftogaz named 5 reasons why Ukrainian gas pipelines are an ideal place for European gas

Oleksiy Chernyshov, the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, named 5 reasons why Ukrainian UGS is an ideal place for European gas. He announced this on his Facebook page.

• Firstly, they are the largest in Europe. From the total volume of 31 bcm, we can offer our partners at least 10 for their needs.
• Secondly, the storage facilities are mainly located in the western part of Ukraine. It is close to the EU border and facilitates fuel transportation.
• Thirdly, the word "underground" is key. They are located so deep that it makes them inaccessible to Russian attacks. 
• Fourthly, our gas storage tariffs are among the lowest in Europe.
• Fifth, the national gas storage operator Ukrtransgaz passed certification in April according to the new rules of the EU and the Energy Community, becoming the second certified European operator.

"I am convinced that such a strategic asset should serve the strategic goals of joint energy security. And in the future, it will become the basis of the Eastern European gas hub," Chernyshov concluded.
