Moldova will continue to purchase electricity from MolTPP from Transnistria

In December, Moldova will continue to purchase electricity from the Moldova TPP, which is located in the territory of Transnistria controlled by Russia. An extension of the contract for January-March 2023 is also being considered.

This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu.

"SA Energocom signed an electricity supply contract with MTPP for the month of December. We also agreed to consider the option of extending the contract for the period of January - March 2023 to provide the entire country with electricity," Spinu said.

The contracted volume is 204 thousand MWh, the price is $73/MWh.

Also, MoldovaGaz will deliver 5.7 million m3 of gas per day to the left bank (to the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic), including the Moldova TPP. According to him, this contract is a "reasonable compromise" to provide residents of both banks of the Dniester with electricity and gas.

"For the first time, the Right Bank no longer depends on the gas supplied by Gazprom. In addition, with the signing of this contract, the risk of massive power outages is reduced," Spinu added.

ExPro reference, Moldova TPP is a thermal power plant located on the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic. The installed capacity is 2520 MW. The station is part of the structure of the Russian company Inter RAO.
