KNAUF becomes corporate buyer of guarantees of origin in Ukraine

KNAUF GIPS KYIV, part of the German Knauf Group, has acquired guarantees of origin for electricity on the Ukrainian market. The electricity supplier that accompanied this transaction was D.TRADING.

The Energy Community Secretariat reported this, noting the importance of this transaction.

“The Energy Community Secretariat welcomes the first known sale of Guarantees of Origin (GO) to a corporate buyer in Ukraine, which marks a significant development of the renewable energy market in the country,” the Energy Community said.

As the Energy Community notes, this is an important milestone in the development of the guarantees of origin market in Ukraine.

“These efforts can serve as a valuable model for supporting local demand for GO, ultimately paving the way for a more dynamic regional market towards full integration with the EU system,” the Energy Community stressed.

About electricity origin guarantee market in Ukraine

As previously reported, the electricity origin guarantee market has been launched in Ukraine since October 2024. Trading is taking place on two platforms — the Market Operator and the Ukrainian Energy Exchange. As of early March, only 3 companies have initiated the auctions — Guaranteed Buyer, Ukrhydroenergo, and Energoatom.
