Investigative company K2 Integrity will help Naftogaz collect $5 billion from Russia

The leading international law firm Covington & Burling LLP, which acts as a legal advisor to the Naftogaz Group, will engage the services of the American investigative company K2 Integrity in order to fulfill the Hague Tribunal's decision to recover $5 billion from Russia in the Crimea case.

This was announced by Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of Naftogaz of Ukraine, on July 27, 2023, while on a working visit to Washington.

"The K2 team will assist us in the search for Russian commercial assets. Based on the search results, we will plan our further enforcement strategy to recover USD 5 billion compensation from Russia. I believe that the course we are on will serve as an example for other companies that have suffered from Russian aggression," said Oleksiy Chernyshov.

One may remind that Naftogaz has launched a forced recovery of $5 billion for assets in Crimea in countries where the Russian Federation owns property. In June, Naftogaz and five other companies of the Naftogaz Group filed a petition with the US District Court of the District of Columbia to confirm the decision of the Hague Arbitration Tribunal, which was the beginning of the forced collection of funds from the Russian Federation.
