In October, the Moldovan Energocom purchased 387 thousand MWh of electricity, 75% of which was imported

In October 2025, the state-owned Moldovan company Energocom purchased 387.3 thousand MWh of electricity at an average weighted price of €132.44/MWh. The share of imports in the total volume of purchases was 75.4%, while the rest came from domestic Moldovan electricity producers.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Moldova.

Out of the total volume of purchases, 20.39% was made under bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers from Romania and Ukraine, while the remaining 55.04% was acquired through trading platforms.

How much did Moldova purchase in September?

As reported earlier, in September 2025, Energocom purchased approximately 322.9 thousand MWh of electricity at an average weighted price of €113.96/MWh. At that time, imports accounted for 80.8% of the total volume.

Of the total purchases, 64.65% were made under bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers from Romania and Ukraine, and the remaining 16.2% through BRM and OPCOM trading platforms.

Ukraine’s role for Moldova in September

According to ExPro, in September 2025 Ukraine exported 151.3 thousand MWh of electricity to Moldova under contracts with Energocom. The largest exporter was Energoatom, which supplied 140.4 thousand MWh. Other exporters included Ukrhydroenergo and KNESS Energy.
