In April, Ukraine almost halved electricity imports to 3.9 thousand MWh
In April 2023, Ukraine reduced electricity imports by 44%, compared to the previous month, to 3,943 MWh. This is evidenced by ExPro calculations.
During April, Ukraine imported 3,805 MWh from Slovakia, and only 138 MWh from Moldova. Since April 7, imports came only from the Slovak direction.

We will remind that since April 11, Ukraine has resumed electricity exports. The first open destination was Moldova. In general, during April 11-30, Ukraine exported 46.4 thousand MWh to Moldova, which is almost 50% of all exports. From April 12, the export to Poland was started, through the separate line Dobrotvirska TPP-Zamość, during the month, 30,325 MWh were delivered in this direction. Also, from April 17 to 21, exports to Slovakia were carried out, but it was stopped due to inconsistencies in conducting auctions for the distribution of capacity of interstate crossings.
In general, 95.9 thousand MWh were exported in April.
As reported in ExPro Electricity Monthly, a sharp reduction in electricity imports began as early as March 2023, as a stable surplus was observed in the energy system since the beginning of spring. Therefore, almost 5.5 thousand MWh were delivered from Slovakia in March, and 1.5 from Moldova thousands of MWh According to ExPro data, in March the average import price from Slovakia was $132/MWh, from Moldova - $99/MWh.
