Greece did not import LNG in April for the first time in 5 years, as prices in the region were not economically viable.

The shipments were canceled as pipeline gas was cheaper than LNG. Mytilineos was expected to import 1 TWh of LNG (94.4 mcm) on April 6, Kolmar 0.5 TWh (47.2 mcm) on April 12, and another 1 TWh (94.4 mcm) of MET on April 22, but the companies revised their plans and canceled their deliveries.

In April 2021, Greece imported 67 thousand tons of LNG (92 mcm of gas), in 2022 - 103 thousand tons (142 mcm of gas) and 157 thousand tons (216.5 mcm of gas) in April 2023. In Q1 2024, Greece imported about 522 million tons of LNG (720 mcm of gas), which is 18% less than last year.
