Gas supply to Luhansk and Donetsk regions completely stopped due to shelling - GTSOU

Due to the shelling of the Russian invaders, the main gas pipeline was damaged and the gas supply to Donetsk and Luhansk regions was cut off, according to the Gas TSO of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU).

According to the GTSOU, on May 23, 2022, the shelling damaged the main gas pipeline that transported gas to the settlements of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. From 14:00 the supply of natural gas to this section of the GTS is suspended. Currently, the damaged section of the gas pipeline is localized, but the restoration and resumption of gas transportation is impossible due to active hostilities.

There are no alternatives to transporting gas to the regions due to unauthorized interference in the operation of the GTS in the territory occupied by Russian troops.

Thus, on May 11, 2022, experts of the GTSOU fixed overlapping of cranes around Novopskov gas compressor station on the main gas pipeline to the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Currently, in order to protect themselves, consumers in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts need to follow the recommendations of regional distribution network operators.

The GTSOU's staff remain in the regions and are in constant contact with the military and civil-military administrations to begin rebuilding damaged gas transportation infrastructure at the earliest opportunity.
