Gals Agro became the second company to supply biomethane to the Ukrainian gas transportation system

Gorodyshche-Pustovarivska Agrarian Company LLC (GOPAK), part of the Gals Agro Holding, has become the second company to supply biomethane of its own production to the Ukrainian gas transportation system and inject it into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. This was reported by ExPro's market sources.

Details

According to ExPro, the company pumps about 2-3 tcm of biomethane per day into underground gas storage facilities. The company has a biomethane plant in the Chernihiv region with a design capacity of 3 mcm per year.

As a reminder, Vitagro Group has also been pumping biomethane into Ukrainian UGS facilities since the beginning of October - about 6 tcm per day. The company planned to start exporting biomethane to Europe in November, but according to ExPro, no biomethane exports have been made yet.

The companies are currently finalizing biomethane sales agreements with European buyers. The first export of biomethane from Ukraine is expected to take place in January 2025.

Gals Agro is a Ukrainian holding company specializing in grain and sugar production, turkey farming, and meat production. The group also produces electricity from renewable energy sources and has 4 biogas complexes in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. The total design capacity is 14.7 MW of green electricity generation.

Since 2021, the company has launched two biomethane projects. In 2023, the first industrial biomethane production was launched at the Lynovytske Biogas Complex.

According to YouControl, the head of Hals Agro LLC is Serhii Kravchuk, and the ultimate beneficiaries are Sergiy Kravchuk (15%) and Gals-K LTD (Vadym Vaispapir, Mykhailo Yevstratov, Volodymyr Havrylenko, Mykola Havrylenko). Sergiy Kravchuk is also the head of Horodyshche-Pustovarivska Agrarian Company LLC, which pumps biomethane into the UGS facilities.
