Foreign traders store more than 1.8 bсь of gas in Ukrainian UGS

As of September 13, foreign traders have accumulated more than 1.8 bcm of natural gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. This is reported by the Ministry of Energy.

According to ExPro, as of September 13, a total of 2.4 bcm of natural gas is stored in the "customs warehouse" of the Ukrainian UGS.

According to the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, this became possible, in particular, thanks to the certification of UGS according to European standards, which is an important step on the way to creating an energy hub in Ukraine.

"European underground gas storages are about 94% full. Therefore, Ukrtransgaz gas storage capacities in UGS are becoming even more attractive for European traders. This is a good sign for us and for Europe because together we are strengthening the continent's energy security," Galushchenko said.

The ministry notes that Ukraine has the largest gas storages in Europe - more than 30 bcm, of which about 15 bcm can be offered to European partners.

One may remind that last week the USAID Energy Security Project published a report on the stress test initiated by the Ministry of Energy and modeled by an international expert group. According to its results, the Ukrainian GTS and UGS are ready to work successfully in the conditions of military challenges and in case of cessation of transit of Russian gas.
