Firtash and his top managers were suspected of embezzling UAH 18 billion worth of gas

On May 15, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) informed about the suspicion of oligarch Dmytro Firtash. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine and Ukrainian Pravda with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.

As noted, the SSU and the BES are serving suspicions against Firtash and eight top managers of his companies. Since the morning, the heads of the oligarch's companies (RGC, YE-Energy) and regional gas companies have been searched.

It will be recalled that the law enforcement officers uncovered a gas theft scheme in 16 regional gas companies. Yes, controlled structures bought gas from his company, but actually received 30% of the volumes. The artificial deficit was covered at the expense of state gas.

According to mass media, over seven years, such a scheme caused losses to the country's budget of UAH 18 billion.
