First "Green" Auctions in Ukraine: Does the Support Mechanism for Renewable Energy Generation Work?
The UN Global Compact in Ukraine, in collaboration with ExPro as part of the Ukraine Energy Initiative, will host a panel discussion dedicated to analyzing the first "green" auctions held in Ukraine during the fall of 2024.
Date: December 5, 2024
Time: 12:00
Format: Online (ZOOM)
Why is this important?
"Green" auctions are an innovative mechanism designed to stimulate the development of renewable energy sources (RES). However, the results of the first pilot auctions indicate low demand among investors. This poses a challenge for Ukraine's energy sector, which aims to achieve sustainable development and integrate into the European "green" agenda.
Topics for discussion:
- How do "green" auctions work: legal frameworks, needs, and mechanisms?
- Why was investor demand for the first pilot auctions low?
- How can we increase the interest of investors and market participants?
- What obstacles and opportunities lie ahead for the mechanism supporting renewable energy generation?
