Finland expects to stop supplying Russian gas on May 20-21, 2022

The Finnish company Gasum believes that there is a real risk of complete suspension of Russian gas supplies under a long-term contract, as well as the likelihood of cessation of imports of Russian gas to Finland on the 20th or the 21th of May 2022. However, Gasum did not receive any information about this from either Gazprom Export or the Russian transmission operator.

Gasum continues to prepare for a possible shutdown with its customers and national authorities responsible for emergency supplies. During the upcoming summer season, Gasum aims to make gas available to its Finnish consumers of natural gas from other sources through the Balticconnector pipeline. However, capacity constraints can complicate this task.

As reported by ExPro, the Finnish company Gasum will not pay for gas in rubles and will resort to international arbitration.
