ERU carried out a test import of gas from Moldova using a backhaul

On January 27, the ERU company carried out the first-ever test delivery of imported natural gas from Moldova using a virtual reverse (backhaul), the company reports.

"In cooperation with Moldovatransgaz, ERU has successfully performed first time ever a test for transit of gas from the South Eastern European gas markets through Moldova to Ukraine," ERU noted.

According to ExPro, it is about a test volume of 2.26 tcm, which will be delivered to the "customs warehouse" of Ukrainian UGS. According to Moldovatransgaz, recent changes allow Moldovan and international companies to transport natural gas using virtual reverse to Ukraine up to 17 mcm per day.

As reported by ExPro, Moldova introduced a virtual reverse for all companies on the border with Ukraine.

According to ExPro, the ERU company remains one of the largest importers of natural gas to Ukraine. In 2022, the company imported about 50 mcm of natural gas to the Ukrainian GTS (not including the volume of imports to the "customs warehouse"), becoming one of the top three importers. Naftogaz of Ukraine remains the largest importer of gas.
