Electricity imports increased by 85% in June
Electricity imports in June 2023 increased by 85% compared to the previous month. At the same time, exports decreased by 85% during this period. This is evidenced by ExPro calculations.
In June, Ukraine imported 43.7 thousand MWh (+20 thousand MWh) compared to the previous month. 41% of this volume was supplied from Moldova, 59% - from Slovakia. Most of the imports took place on weekends and holidays, when the price on the European markets dropped to minimum values. Export of electricity in June took place only during 1-11. 90% of the total volume (5,600 out of 6,175 MWh) was supplied to Poland. DTEK Zahidenergo was the only exporter in this direction. The other part was exported to Moldova.
In general, in the first half of 2023, 282.5 thousand MWh were imported, and 143.5 thousand MWh were exported. Already at the beginning of July, the import of electricity increased, for July 1-3, 4,960 MWh were delivered from Slovakia.
