DTEK Renewables sells green electricity guarantees of origin in Ukraine for the first time

DTEK Renewables has sold its first guarantees of origin (GOs) for electricity in Ukraine, the company announced.

"DTEK Renewables is systematically contributing to the decarbonization of Ukraine's economy. We are building new renewable energy capacities with foreign investment, issuing guarantees of origin for domestic sale, and developing carbon credits for trading on international platforms. Currently, the state is at the early stage of forming a full-fledged guarantees of origin market, and its development is a key prerequisite for increasing clean energy use in the economy," said Oleksandr Selyshchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables.

According to the company, the purchase of GOs by businesses and enterprises officially confirms that the electricity used in their operations comes from renewable sources, adding environmental value to their products. Any individual or legal entity in Ukraine may purchase such guarantees through dedicated electronic platforms.

Buyers of GOs not only gain competitive and reputational advantages for their products and services, but also contribute to the further development of renewable energy capacities in Ukraine.
