DTEK Renewables completed additional Statcom configuration at its facilities

The operational holding of DTEK Renewables has completed the process of additional configuration of energy equipment - reactive power compensation devices (STATCOM) at its facilities.

This was reported in the press center of DTEK Renewables.

"This is the first experience for Ukraine, the employees of DTEK RES received a unique expertise in the installation and use of the latest equipment. In the future, this will make it possible to increase the possibility of exporting electricity from Ukraine to the countries of the European Union by 730 MW in addition to the existing volume, which will provide additional income to budget of Ukraine and will speed up the country's European integration. One of the conditions for synchronizing the power grids of the IPS of Ukraine and ENTSO-E was to resolve the issue of damping low-frequency oscillations in the network of the IPS of Ukraine," DTEK said.

As indicated by DTEK, STATCOM devices are installed at three DTEK RES power plants.

"We understand the importance of increasing the reliability of the energy connection between the IPS of Ukraine and ENTSO-E. This should also bring economic benefits for Ukraine. Therefore, the company invested its own funds in the installation of this innovative equipment, which will contribute to the expansion of Ukraine's export opportunities to the ENTSO-E networks. - Oleksandr Selishchev, general director of DTEK RES, said. - Additional 730 MW is a great basis for increasing Ukraine's export revenues, when it will be possible to sell such amounts of electricity."

Also, on September 22, DTEK Renewables received approval of reports on the activation of the POD function on STATCOM devices from NPC "Ukrenergo" and ENTSO-E.

Previously, a study of the impact of STATCOM devices at the DTEK RES station was performed by the Polish research institute Institute of Power Engineering Gdansk Division, and a positive impact on the possibility of increasing power export was confirmed.
