DTEK Naftogaz together with Weatherford used downhole video cameras for the first time in Ukraine

For the first time in Ukraine, DTEK Naftogaz has used downhole video cameras to survey the wells of the existing fund in real time, the company's press service reported.

The pilot project is implemented jointly with the international contractor - Weatherford. As part of the pilot project, downhole cameras were tested at the Semyrenkivske field to determine the causes of obstruction in the wells during logging. DTEK Naftogaz is implementing the project together with the international service company Weatherford, which acts as a contractor for the RIH of the cameras into the wells. Symoil is the supplier of DHVI video cameras. The cameras can be used in extreme conditions – at pressures up to 1,000 atmospheres and temperatures up to 150-160°C. This allows using them to survey wells with a depth of over 5,000 m in real time.

The use of downhole video cameras allows accurately determining the cause of obstruction in the wellbore. Using them in the Wells of the Semyrenkivske field, DTEK Naftogaz reduced the time required to eliminate obstructions by more than 75% and reduced the cost of work by 40%. The use of video cameras significantly increases operational efficiency, reduces well downtime, and helps increase gas production.
