DTEK Naftogaz booked an additional 7.1 bcm of reserves due to the active introduction of the latest technologi

Due to the introduction of advanced technologies for geological data processing and combining them with classical methods, DTEK Naftogaz received investment savings of USD 135 million at the Machukhske field. And due to the latest technologies of geological exploration at the Semyrenkivske field, it was possible to book a 4.5 bcm of gas reserves. The total increase in reserves amounted to 7.1 bcm. Ivan Hafych, Director of Exploration and Long-Term Development at DTEK Naftogaz, spoke about this and other business achievements at the SPE Eastern Europe Subsurface Conference.

Achieving a high level of reliability in predicting reservoir parameters in combination with other technological solutions allowed drilling several high-yield wells with gas flow rates of 650-850 at an average of 300- 400 tcm a day at the early stages of field development, and in areas of tight sandstones - 150-250 tcm a day, Hafych said.

An important factor in recent years has been the use during drilling of smart Bentec Multikill systems, which allows working in the absence of people at the site, and efficiently controls the drilling trajectory. This artificial intelligence is also used for various drilling complications, which also analyses all existing information on a specific interval without human intervention and can make optimally correct operational decisions on drilling technology management.
