DTEK and Octopus Energy Group launch RISE initiative
Ukrainian private energy company DTEK and global clean energy technology company Octopus Energy Group have announced the launch of the RISE initiative — a new program for installing rooftop solar power plants and energy storage systems for Ukrainian businesses and public sector institutions. This was reported by the DTEK press center.
The partnership was announced during the Octopus Energy Tech Summit in London.
“The initiative is based on the expertise of DTEK’s experience in implementing energy efficiency projects and Octopus Energy Group’s Kraken operating system, which works on the basis of artificial intelligence, to enhance energy resilience,” DTEK explains.
About the project
RISE (Resilient Independent Solar Energy) will be the first such program in Ukraine. It aims to attract 100 million euros to finance 100 local energy projects over the next three years. The initiative will help stabilize the power system and protect customers from outages and price spikes. Solar power plants and energy storage systems are being installed together at customer sites of D.Solutions, a company operating under the YASNO brand and a division of DTEK specializing in the supply of electricity to consumers and energy efficiency solutions. The systems are operated by the Kraken platform to enable businesses to optimize and manage electricity consumption in real time, reduce peak load during the year and sell excess electricity to the grid, increasing sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
DTEK and Octopus Energy Group leaders on the new project
Maxim Timchenko, DTEK CEO, said: “About 70% of Ukraine’s thermal generation capacity has been damaged, destroyed or seized since the full-scale invasion. This has created not only an urgent need to rebuild but also an opportunity to accelerate the shift to a decentralised, renewable energy system. DTEK’s partnership with Octopus Energy combines the strength of two national energy champions and is a step towards a stronger, greener energy future. By combining investment, technology and international support, we can help Ukrainian businesses and communities take control of their energy needs and lay the foundation for lasting energy independence. Thank you to Octopus Energy, the UK Government and British people for their unwavering support to Ukraine.”
Greg Jackson, Founder and CEO of Octopus Energy Group, said: “Ukraine – and specifically DTEK – has demonstrated incredible resilience and agility in the face of unprecedented destruction to its energy system. They are rebuilding at pace and pioneering a decentralised, smart energy system powered by homegrown renewables – and this is exactly where Kraken can be highly effective. We’re proud to partner with them to help Ukraine come back stronger than ever.”
