Damages of NEC "Ukrenergo" due to Russia's military aggression amount to more than UAH 70 billion - Shmyhal

The losses of the operator of the transmission system of NEC "Ukrenergo" due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation amount to more than UAH 70 billion.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the Government meeting.

"Repairs and replacement of damaged equipment continue. "According to preliminary estimates, the amount of losses of NEC "Ukrenergo" due to Russia's military aggression is more than UAH 70 billion," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

"70 repair crews, more than 1,000 qualified specialists are working on the restoration of power grids damaged by Russian missiles and drones," Denis Shmyhal said at the meeting on November 22.

Also, Shmyhal responded to "fakes" that Ukraine allegedly exports electricity to Europe. He emphasized that the state has not sold electricity to the European Union since October 11, when a massive attack on our power system began.

"To put it simply and briefly, between the station producing electricity and our homes as the final consumer are substations and networks transporting electricity. Russian terrorists attack precisely these objects. Because of this, it is sometimes impossible to transport a large amount of electricity to individual regions or districts. Therefore, the restrictions are uneven across the country," Shmyhal explained the possible uneven restrictions on consumers across Ukraine.

It will be recalled that Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the head of NEC "Ukrenergo" during a briefing on November 22, announced that all large thermal power plants and hydroelectric power stations were already damaged as a result of Russian shelling.
