CMU instructs Naftogaz to pump 19 bcm of gas into Ukrainian UGS for DH season

At its meeting on June 7, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (CMU) instructed the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine to ensure natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground gas storages (UGS) at least up to 19 bcm , Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.

According to Shmyhal, as of June 1, 2022, more than 10 bcm of natural gas were stored in the Ukrainian UGS with a continued injection. According to ExPro estimates, the natural gas injection into the Ukrainian UGS is about 33 mcm-37 mcm per day.

Shmyhal also reported on preliminary estimates of gas production and consumption in Ukraine in 2022. "The government is projecting several scenarios for maximum winter readiness," Shmyhal said.

Thus, according to the Prime Minister, gas production is expected to reach 16 bcm-19 bcm by the end of 2022, while last year it was 19.8 bcm. At the same time, consumption is expected at 21 bcm-24 bcm against 30 bcm in 2021.
