Britain may reopen its largest gas storage facility amid the energy crisis

The UK is considering resuming the country's largest gas storage facility, Rough, as Russia's war in Ukraine could exacerbate the crisis in energy markets in the winter. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.

One may remeber that in 2017, the storage operator Centrica closed Rough, which accounted for about 70% of the country's gas storage capacity. The storage capacity was 3.3 bcm of gas. "Against the background of Russia's criminal invasion of Ukraine, it would be wise to consider all possible options for securing gas supplies, including future gas storage, if necessary," the government said.
