77% of wind power capacity is occupied by Russians

77% of the wind power capacity is located on the territory of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russian troops.

Energobusiness reported this with a reference to the results of the final annual meeting of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, Renewable Energy of Ukraine: 2022 Results and Vision of the Future".

"77% are under occupation. This is 1,315 MW out of a total of 1,730 MW," Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, said.

"This year, 71 MW was completed, about 40 MW will still be built, but commissioning will be performed during January-February 2023. These are the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Lviv regions," Konechenkov said, adding that in general, the companies signed contracts, paid for construction, and planned to build 800-1000 MW of installed capacity this year. The Chair of the Association also reported on damage to wind turbines.

"Regarding damage. Today we have 7 wind turbines. 6 are in the Kherson region, and one is in Mykolaiv. In the Kherson region, two turbines can still be considered. They are not destroyed. And five turbines are destroyed," Konechenkov said, adding that companies and the Association have started a dialogue with various funds to finance the restoration of destroyed property.

According to Konechenkov, the industry records the damage caused by the occupation forces as best it can.
