45,000 households in Donetsk region have been re-connected to gas supply

More than 45,400 households in Donetsk region are connected to gas supply after six months of no gas due to fierce fighting and numerous damages to the gas infrastructure. Oleksiy Chernyshov, head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, announced this.

Gas supply was restored thanks to the efforts of the employees of Donetskoblgaz (owned by Naftogaz), Kirovogradgaz JSC and local authorities.

According to Chernyshov, more than 45,000 households, 18 enterprises and 131 boiler houses in 42 cities and towns of the region already receive gas.

"Despite constant shelling and the danger to their own lives, specialists continue to work to make these numbers even higher," Naftogaz said.

"The launch of gas supply in Donetsk region is the result, without exaggeration, of the heroic efforts of all those involved, and especially the employees of Donetskoblgaz. Despite constant shelling and the danger to their own lives, they continue to restore gas supply to the region on the eve of the heating season," Chernyshov said.

From May 23, 2022, in connection with damage to the main gas pipeline and the lack of alternative sources of natural gas transportation to the Donetsk region, Donetskoblgaz was forced to stop distributing natural gas to its consumers (except for residents of Komarska UTC and Oleksandrivska UTC).

"We have already satisfied 93% of applications for connecting households and 91.6% of applications for connecting boiler houses. This is a good indicator, especially considering that the system was heavily damaged by shelling and was without gas for almost six months. I thank my colleagues who workday and night to ensure that Donetsk region has heat as soon as possible," added Vadym Batii, head of Donetskoblgaz.
