Ukrainian power system is fully synchronised with the European power network ENTSO-E
Ukrainian power system is fully synchronised with the European power network ENTSO-E.
The beginning of parallel work was reported in ENTSO-E.
“Continental Europe TSOs are now supporting the stability of the Ukrainian-Moldovan power system following a positive analysis which confirmed that an emergency synchronisation is technically feasible with a number of measures to ensure safe and secure power systems”,- ENTSO-E said.
Immediately after synchronisation, European and Ukrainian leaders commented on the landmark event.
“Ukraine has become a member of European Energy Union. The unification of Ukraine & EU energy systems has been completed. Now Ukrainian electricity flows in Europe & vice versa. ", - commented the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
" Ukraine, Moldova and Europe: shared values, shared power and solidarity. I welcome the key step taken today to keep lights on and houses warm in these dark times by synchronising the electricity grids of Ukraine and Moldova with European grid. We'll continue working to stabilise their power systems, "said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
" The electricity grids of Ukraine & Moldova have been successfully synchronised with the Continental European Grid. This will help Ukraine to keep their electricity system stable & lights on. It is a historic milestone for our relationship – in this area, Ukraine is now part of Europe! ”Said Kadri Simson, EU Commissioner for Energy.
"As of today, Europe's energy system stretches from Mariupol to Lisbon. During the 21 days of the war, the Ukrainian system surprised European politicians and power engineers with stable and balanced work under rocket fire and air strikes aimed at energy facilities. We persevered. Because we were ready, ”commented Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, CEO of Ukrenergo.
"It coincided, but behind this coincidence was Russia's desire to hinder Ukraine's European integration, to" ban "our movement to the EU. The desire to forbid us to be free and to choose our own future and our own unions. They believed that the Ukrainian energy system would "fall". That we do not have enough capacity to meet the needs of Ukraine in wartime. Russia has seized and bombed our stations, including nuclear ones, exposing the world to the risk of a nuclear catastrophe. But the Ukrainian energy system survived. Wherever possible, our energy companies provided people with electricity - military and civilian, households and businesses, "said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko.
