Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law on market coupling
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Law on Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine regarding the implementation of European law provisions on the integration of energy markets, increasing security of supply, and competitiveness in the energy sector (reg. No. 12087-d), ExPro reports.
As reported earlier, the law provides for:
- the creation of legal foundations for the coupling of the day-ahead market and the intraday market with European bidding zones;
- the implementation of the European model of risk preparedness in the electricity sector and the introduction of capacity mechanisms;
- the regulation of interaction between the transmission system operator and the market operator to ensure cross-border electricity exchange;
- the development of new flexible market instruments, in particular aggregation activities and demand response management;
- the strengthening of the role of consumers through the development of citizen energy communities and the institution of the active consumer.
As reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported this law as a whole at the session on April 7, 2026.
The initiators of the draft law were Andrii Zhupanyn, Andrii Herus, Maksym Khlapuk, and other members of the Energy Committee.
