Ukrnaftoburinnya resumes natural gas production at the Sakhalin field

Ukrnaftoburinnya PrJSC is gradually resuming natural gas production at the Sakhalin field, ExPro's market sources have reported. Thus, on August 10, the company produced about 1.39 mcm of natural gas, according to ExPro data.

According to the company itself, before stopping production in early December 2023, Ukrnaftoburinnya produced 1.56 mcm of natural gas per day at the Sakhalin field. On August 10, the total natural gas production in Ukraine increased above 53 mcm per day for the first time since the end of November 2023 due to the resumption of Ukrnaftoburinnya's production.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Geological Survey has renewed the special subsoil use permit for the Sakhalin oil and gas condensate field No. 6349 issued to UNB. By a new decision No. 358 of August 7, the State Service of Geology and Subsoil canceled order No. 621 of December 4, 2023, which revoked the special permit of the UNB.

Ukrnaftoburinnya completely stopped production at the Sakhalin field on December 1, 2023, under a court decision on the claim of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources to revoke the company's special permit.

As ExPro previously reported, gas production in Ukraine decreased by 3% after Ukrnaftoburinnya stopped production. According to ExPro, Ukrnaftoburinnya had been producing about 45 mcm of natural gas per month in recent months before the production shutdown and was one of the top 3 private production companies in Ukraine.

In July 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers transferred the corporate rights of Ukrnaftoburinnya to the management of PJSC Ukrnafta at the suggestion of the ARMA.
