Ukrenergo proposes to increase the transmission tariff by 48% for next year

Ukrenergo proposes to increase the electricity transmission tariff for 2025 by 48% - up to UAH 783.71/MW*h. The transmission tariff for "green" metallurgy is proposed to be set at UAH 441.05/MW*h. This is stated in the draft tariff published by Ukrenergo.

According to the calculations of the system operator, almost 50% of expenses will continue to be occupied by expenses for the performance of special duties - UAH 33.6 billion from UAH 77.1 billion.

The largest amount, UAH 26 billion, is expenses related to the performance of special duties to ensure general public interests, except for private households. Expenditures related to the purchase of electrical energy in order to compensate for technological costs of electrical energy in 2025 are planned at the level of UAH 18,349,300 thousand.

The purchase of the required amount of electrical energy in order to compensate for technological costs during its transmission in 2025 is planned as follows:

- 20% of the volume of electricity is planned to be purchased on the day-ahead/intraday market at a price of UAH 6,543.07/MWh (without VAT). To calculate the planned price, the weighted average price of DAM for the first half of 2024 according to the data of JSC "Market Operator" was adopted - UAH 3,871.64/MWh (without VAT), and increased by 69%, which is equal to the increase in the weighted average price of DAM in June -July 2024 to June-July 2023. The increase is due to an increase in marginal prices on the day-ahead market and the intraday market as of June 1, 2024, as a result of the approval of Resolution of the NEURC dated May 20, 2024 No. 949;

- 77% of the amount of electrical energy is planned to be purchased under bilateral contracts at a price of UAH 5,888.76/MWh (without VAT). To calculate the price, the weighted average price of DAM was adopted - UAH 6,543.07/MWh (without VAT), reduced by 10% based on the actual difference in prices on the market of bilateral contracts and DAM for the first half of 2024;

- 3% is planned to be purchased on the balancing market at the price of DAM+30% in accordance with the write-off/charge formula for electricity imbalances provided for by the Market Rules, approved by the Resolution of the NEURC dated March 14, 2018 No. 307 (as amended).

The projected price for 2025 will be UAH 8,505.99/MWh (without VAT).
