Ukrenergo held the fourth special auction for ancillary services: list of winners

Ukrenergo NPC held the fourth auction for long-term procurement of ancillary services - 249 MW of reserves were accepted. This was reported in the press center of Ukrenergo NPC.

“249 MW of fast reserves. This is the volume of offers accepted by Ukrenergo NPC at the fourth long-term special auction for the purchase of ancillary services. Automatic frequency restoration reserve (AFRR) services were purchased - one of the key tools for ensuring stable and trouble-free operation of the power system,” Ukrenergo noted.

As noted by the transmission system operator, the winners of the special auction must pay guarantee contributions within a month. The final results will be published after the end of the appeal period specified in the Market Rules.

Ancillary services should begin to be provided from December 1, 2026. The winners included not only existing ancillary service providers, but also investors planning to build new generating capacities, in particular, gas piston, gas turbine plants, biomass power plants and energy storage facilities, the TSO said.

All of them should be able to increase or decrease generation volumes on the command of NPC Ukrenergo within 15 minutes. The winners of the special auction have until the end of November 2026 to build the facilities, undergo certification and start providing services.

The weighted average price of accepted offers was:

- load services – 949.45 UAH / MW;

symmetrical reserve services – 762.80 UAH / MW.
