Ukrainian Parliament approved certification of Ukrenergo
On February 19, 2021, the Parliament of Ukraine supported in the first reading the Draft Law №3364-1-d on certification of the transmission system operator NEC Ukrenergo, with 274 MPs voting for it versus 10 and 31 MPs opposing or obtaining during the vote, respectively.
"The Draft Law №3364-1-d allows for the certification of the transmission system operator NEC Ukrenergo according to European rules, which is a prerequisite for the integration of the Ukrainian energy system into the European one (ENTSO-E)," wrote in his Telegram channel Andriy Gerus, MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Housing, and Utility Services.
The Draft Law №3364-1-d envisages the NEC Ukrenergo be certified as not owning the national grid, but running it on a defined basis of economic management.
