Ukraine increased electricity imports by over 50% in December 2025
In December 2025, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 53% compared to the previous month (November 2025), to almost 640 thousand MWh. This is evidenced by preliminary monitoring data from ExPro Electricity.
This figure is the highest in 2025.
Details
Hungary continues to account for the largest share in the structure of electricity imports, with 41% of total volumes. Slovakia ranks second with 21%.
Overall, supplies increased from all directions except Moldova. In December, imports from Moldova decreased by almost 25%. Electricity imports from Poland increased significantly, by 85%, to 114 thousand MWh.
Compared to December 2024, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 48% — from 431 to 640 thousand MWh. It should be recalled that record-high imports were recorded in June 2024, at 858 thousand MWh.
Overall, in 2025 Ukraine imported 3.3 million MWh, which is 24% less than the volumes in 2024.
Electricity exports in December
In December 2025, Ukraine did NOT export electricity. Cross-border supplies have been completely suspended since November 11.
