The option of integrating military risk insurance for the new generation into ESF is being considered - Orzhel

Currently, the possibility of allocating part of the resources for military risk insurance for new generation projects within the framework of the Energy Support Fund is being considered. This was announced by Oleksiy Orzhel, head of the Kyiv office of Energy Community, during the Energy Day 2024 event organized by the European Business Association.

"Part of the Energy Support Fund can be earmarked for military risk insurance for decentralized and renewable generation facilities. Now there are a lot of conditions that the IMF will help. We hope that other institutions will work as well. But there is a certain model that would cover everyone, and donors could specially raise money for it. We would be happy to be the tool that would provide such an opportunity," said Oleksiy Orzhel, adding that at the moment it is only an initiative and one of the possible options.

He clarified that the target audience for this would be the small and medium generation, located in the west of Ukraine. "The cost of such small objects is cheaper than the cost of a rocket. And there should be many such projects," Orzhel clarified.

Also, Orzhel emphasized the need to develop distribution and transmissiom networks in the western regions of Ukraine, because the energy landscape is changing.

The head of the Kyiv office of Energy Community indicated that the Energy Security Fund will continue to support Ukraine.
