Police detain head of Kyivoblgaz branch on receiving UAH 250 thousand of illegal benefit

Operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Kyiv and investigators of the Kyiv Region Police Investigation Department exposed the corrupt activities of the head of one of the branches of Kyivoblgaz PJSC. The official demanded UAH 250 thousand of unlawful benefits for resolving the issue of approving technical documentation for gasification on land plots. They planned to build a cottage community on these plots. This was reported by the police press service.

On May 17, law enforcement officers detained the suspect while he was receiving the full amount of money. Based on the evidence collected, the head of one of the branches was notified of suspicion. The suspect was chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the right to post UAH 242 thousand bail. The criminal proceedings are being investigated under the supervision of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office.

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
