Naftogaz registered on the Aggregate EU gas procurement platform

Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC has registered on the Aggregate EU joint gas procurement platform and is ready for the first stage of its work. This was stated by the head of Naftogaz, Oleksiy Chernyshov, during his speech before the governing board of the EU Energy Platform. As a reminder, the official work of the Aggregate EU platform started today, April 25, 2023.

During his speech, Chernyshov also addressed the participants of the European gas market with a proposal to use the capacities of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) to store natural gas purchased within the Aggregate EU platform.

As reported by ExPro, the first round of supply and demand aggregation began on April 25. Submitted requests will later be aggregated and finally matched with sellers' offers through a tender.

Each tender process consists of successive stages and lasts approximately two weeks. On April 25, phase 1 began - collection of demand. Buyers can submit bids for specific locations and months.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine called on Ukrainian companies (first, buyers) to register for demand aggregation on the joint procurement platform, but it is currently unknown whether anyone else besides Naftogaz has registered.

As a reminder, Ukraine can purchase up to 2 bcm of natural gas within the EU joint procurement.
