Moldova has officially launched the spot electricity market: the first transaction has taken place
On the Moldovan day-ahead market on 10 December, the first transaction took place on the OPEM platform. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Moldova.
“The first electricity transaction on the day-ahead market took place yesterday on the platform of the Electricity Market Operator in Moldova (OPEM). This is how the first page of a new chapter in the evolution of Moldova’s electricity market was written,” the Ministry of Energy says.
The transaction was carried out by SA Energocom, which symbolically purchased 1 MWh. The test aims to check the operation and functionality of the new market, as well as assess how it can support the diversification and transparency of electricity procurement mechanisms.
The price of the symbolically purchased megawatt amounted to 3,080 Moldovan lei (approximately 149 EUR/MWh).
