Gazprom has reduced production and gas exports to Europe to the lowest level in Russian history

According to the results of 2022, Russia's Gazprom reduced the production and export of natural gas to Europe to the lowest level since at least 1991. This is evidenced by Gazprom data.

In 2022, Gazprom produced 412.6 bcm of natural gas, 20% or 102.2 bcm less than in 2021 – 514.8 bcm. The reduction in production is primarily related to a decrease in supplies to Europe due to the refusal of European countries to purchase Russian gas after the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation at the end of February 2022.

Russia has repeatedly assured that the sanctions and refusal of European countries from Russian gas will not affect the country, but rather will harm the Europeans themselves, but data on gas production show a different picture.

Gazprom's natural gas exports to Europe also collapsed - to 100.9 bcm, 45% or 84.2 bcm less than in 2021. This is also the lowest level since 1990.

It is expected that in 2023, the reduction of both production and export of Russian gas to Europe will continue, as European countries seek to completely abandon Russian gas, replacing it with other sources, in particular, LNG.
