Electricity imports to Ukraine hit a yearly low amid lower price caps
Ukraine sharply reduced electricity imports on April 1 – to 12.7 thousand MWh, which is 56% lower than the volumes of the previous day (March 31), according to ExPro Electricity monitoring data. This is the lowest level since the beginning of 2026.
As previously reported, starting from the delivery day of April 1, 2026, previous price caps were reinstated on the electricity market:
On the day-ahead and intraday markets:
maximum price caps from 00:00 to 07:00 and from 11:00 to 17:00 – UAH 5,600/MWh;
from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 – UAH 6,900/MWh;
from 17:00 to 23:00 – UAH 15,000/MWh;
minimum price cap – UAH 10/MWh;
On the balancing market:
maximum price caps from 00:00 to 07:00 – UAH 6,600/MWh;
from 07:00 to 17:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 – UAH 8,250/MWh;
from 17:00 to 23:00 – UAH 16,000/MWh;
minimum price cap – UAH 0.01/MWh.
As reported by Ukrenergo, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, forced consumption restrictions for industrial consumers will be applied across all regions of Ukraine. There is a need for prudent electricity consumption.
In addition, according to ExPro, repairs of the interconnector between Ukraine and Slovakia started on April 1, and imports and exports in this direction will be suspended until the end of May.
