"D.Trading" plans to increase electricity import to reduce the deficit in the energy system

The trading division of the DTEK energy holding "D.Trading" has started importing electricity to reduce the deficit in the energy system of Ukraine. In January, the company imported about 95% of all electricity supplies from Europe.

The company reported this on January 25.

"During January, the company actively imported electricity from Europe (approximately 95% of all imports) and plans to continue increasing supplies in order to reduce the deficit in the energy system of Ukraine and thereby support the economy," D.Trading reports.

"The import of electricity from Europe improves the situation with the balance in the energy system of Ukraine. Additional, guaranteed supplies of electricity provide an opportunity for enterprises to stabilize and increase the level of production. And as we can see, it really works. In the coming weeks, we plan to expand the volume of supplies and provide additional electricity to a greater number of customers," commented the head of D.Trading, Dmytro Malyar.

As indicated by the company, the total volume of imports can potentially reach approximately 1 billion kWh every month, which will significantly reduce the deficit in the energy system.

"For this, it is necessary to expand the capacity of bandwidth with neighboring European countries, in particular with Romania and Hungary," D.Trading points out.

As reported in ExPro Electricity Daily, on January 21 and 22, Ukraine sharply increased the import of electricity from Slovakia, the capacity was 290-291 MW. Most of the deliveries were carried out by D.Trading, which, according to ExPro, supplied 37% of all electricity imports in December 2022.

In January (January 1-24, 2023), Ukraine imported more than 17.7 thousand MWh, which is almost six times more than the total import for December 2022.

As reported, since January 26, the possibilities for electricity supplies from Slovakia have been increased - up to 600 MW at 1-5, 11-24 hours and 500 MW at 6-22 hours. The capacity for import from Romania and Hungary is still 0 MW.
