DTEK plans to develop LNG trading in Europe

D.Trading, the European trading unit of DTEK energy holding, plans to enter the European LNG market and hire more employees, establishing closer ties with Europe. BNN Bloomberg reports this with reference to the words of D.Trading CEO Ivan Gelyukh.

The company plans to hire up to 12 new people by the end of the year to trade natural gas, electricity, and fuel. Currently, the company employs about 60 traders in 4 offices, including Kyiv and Amsterdam. Longer term, D.Trading plans to set up a separate LNG trading desk.

“Our plan is to contribute to energy security in Europe. At the moment we have a big portfolio of customers in Ukraine, so the next step for us is building the team and develop our capabilities across the region,” said Geliukh.

Expanding its activity activities in Europe will help strengthen Ukraine's ties with the wider energy market and increase the security of electricity and gas supplies in times of war. In addition, the high volatility in European markets will allow for greater profit from trade.
