Ukraine will be able to import more electricity from Slovakia - 300-350 MW

Since January 16, the bandwidth for electricity supplies from Slovakia to Ukraine has been increased to 350 MW during hours of minimum load (1-7.24) and up to 300 MW during hours of maximum load (8-23).

This is evidenced by the volumes of the proposed bandwidth, which are published on the platform of NPC "Ukrenergo". However, the bandwidth for imports from Romania has been reduced to 0 MW.

According to ExPro, the previously proposed capacity for import was at the following level: for Slovakia - 234 MW for 1-5, 23-24 hours, 200 MW - for 6-22 hours; for Romania - 233 MW for 1-5, 23-24 hours, 200 MW - for 6-22 hours.

According to ExPro Electricity Daily, on January 15, Ukraine imported 655 MWh from Slovakia, which was facilitated by the price situation in the neighboring country's market. According to the Okte exchange, the off-peak load index on January 15, 2023 was 48.06 EUR/MWh.

According to the results of the daily auctions for the distribution of bandwidth, on January 15, 3 companies jointly bought 180 MW of the сapacity during "off-peak" hours, and 170 MW - during "peak" hours. The companies "D.Trading" and "ERU Trading" bought 130 MW and 20 MW on a basel schedule, respectively. Also, 20-30 MW, depending on the hours, was purchased by Nexttrade. As of Monday, January 16, the distributed capacity was less - 20-41 MW, among the participants of the auction - "ERU Trading", "Nexttrade", "SK Energy Group".

As previously reported, Ukraine imported more than 3,000 MWh from Slovakia in December 2022, mainly during the Christmas holidays, when prices on European markets collapsed.

We will remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Regulation on the peculiarities of the import of electric energy during the autumn-winter period of 2022/2023, according to which consumers who are supplied with an imported resource are protected from planned shutdowns.
