In 2023, debt on the balancing market increased by 40-44%
In 2023, the debt of NPC "Ukrenergo" on the balancing market to participants increased by 44% - up to UAH 18.4 billion. At the same time, market participants' indebtedness to Ukrenergo during this period increased by 40% to UAH 30.6 billion. This is evidenced by ExPro calculations.
As of the end of 2023, in the structure of the debt of NPC "Ukrenergo" to market participants, the share of debt to balancing service providers is 80%, to the parties responsible for the balance - 20%.
As Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the chairman of the board of NPC Ukrenergo, pointed out at one of the last meetings of the Parliament Committee on Energy and Housing, the main part of the increase in debt falls on the supplier of the last hope, Ukrinterenergo.
In particular, the list of objects (about 5.5 thousand consumers) that cannot be disconnected from electricity included water utilities, municipal enterprises, state mines and other critical infrastructure. And also, according to Kudrytskyi, this list could also include sufficiently specific objects.
After the cancellation of Order of the Ministry of Energy No. 148 "On settlement of issues regarding the supply of electricity to consumers and settlements between participants of the retail electricity market during the period of martial law in Ukraine", Ukrenergo expects that in the near future the Government will offer a comprehensive list of "protected consumers" .
