Naftogaz dispels myths about the color of gas in gas appliances

Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC dispels common myths about the color of natural gas in consumers' gas appliances. According to the company, there is a common myth that bad-quality gas burns with a yellow or red flame instead of blue, but this phenomenon has nothing to do with the quality of the gas.

According to Naftogaz, the yellow and red shades of the flame only indicate that there is not enough air coming to the burner of the gas appliance and the gas is NOT burning completely.

There may be several reasons for this:

• incorrect adjustment of air supply to the burner or contamination of the burner nozzle
• insufficient amount of oxygen in the room
• insufficient pressure

If we talk about pressure in the system, it means a certain malfunction that is quickly detected and cannot be a permanent phenomenon.

Regional gas companies are responsible for maintaining the proper pressure level. They also eliminate emergency situations and repair distribution networks. The only telephone number of the gas service is 104.

Naftogaz notes that the first thing to do when the color of combustion in gas appliances is different from blue is to contact the gas service.

The company also emphasizes that independent intervention in the operation of gas appliances is dangerous and can lead to gas leaks or other accidents, such as fires or poisoning.
