Ukrenergo Presented New Substation Kreminska Linking North of Lugansk Region and IPS of Ukraine
On July 9, 2020 TSO NPC Ukrenergo presented the substation Kreminska lately constructed and put into operation. The substation links the North of Lugansk region with the Integrated Power System of Ukraine, thus it provides one more source of electricity supply in addition to existing Lugansk TPP.
There are input power lines with voltage of 500 kV from the substations Donbaska and Donska and the output line 220 kV to the substation Yuvileyna. The transformer capacity of the substation Kreminska is 501 MWA, there are four transformers with voltage range 500/220/35 kV produced by PJSC Zaporizhtransformator.
The main feature of the substation is the usage of gas insulated switchgears with voltage of 220 and 500 kV, such a technology has been applied in the Ukrainian transmission system for the first time. These switchgears allow to shorten the necessary territory (the substation takes 3.3 hectares; the square is 7 times less the existing substations with the same voltage range). The gas insulated switchgears feature the high exploitation reliability (the guaranteed period of commissioning is 25 years). The producer of the switchgears is Housung Corporation from South Korea.
The costs of the substation construction is UAH 1.281 billion, the cost-cutting of the project is UAH 438 million. Kyiv Energy and Construction Company was the designer and the contractor of the substation.
It is completely automatic; its activity can be managed by the dispatch center in Kharkiv or one in Kyiv. The new substation lets release additional 50 MW reserves of Lugansk TPP’s units.
