Ukrenergo has successfully launched the ancillary services market
On December 12, NEC Ukrenergo held its first intraday auction for ancillary services, during which the system operator purchased services of Manual Frequency Restoration Reserves (mFRR) for the Integrated Power System of Ukraine.
According to TSO’s webpage, the mFRR was provided over the following day, December 13.
Under the terms of the auction, the mFRR were purchased: for loading - in the amount of 1000 MW, and for unloading - in the amount of 421 MW for each hour of the day. The Kurakhovska TPP of the DTEK Group participated in the auction.
According to NEC Ukrenergo, as of today the registered providers of mFRR ancillary services include PJSC Ukrhydroenergo (Dniprovskaya HPP-1 with 495 MW for mFRR) and PJSC DTEK Skhidenergo (Kurakhovska TPPwith 415 MW for mFRR).
The next auctions for week-long ancillary services are scheduled for December 17 and December 24, besides regular running auctions for intraday ancillary services.
A few days before, CEO of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk said the certification process of several companies’ facilities for ancillary services providing was ongoing. The forthcoming development of this market will show the price trend and the total value of ancillary services.
