Ukraine will import coal as needed to prepare for 2021-2022 national DHS season - Minister
Ukraine will increase coal reserves through national production, but in case of insufficiency, necessary, extra missing coal volumes will be imported from other countries.
That was announced on July 29, 2021, by Herman Halushchenko, Minister of Energy, during a meeting held at the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
"We see the coal stocks that are there. We see how to replenish extra stocks of coals. Maximum coal stocks will be of nationally- mined coals. If nationally-mined volumes of coals are insufficient, we will import the lacking volumes of coals," Halushchenko said.
According to him, the volume of imports will depend on the balance of domestic coal production. Poland, South Africa, and Kazakhstan are considered to be as countries of prospective coal imports into Ukraine.
