Ukraine imported 275 million kWh in July
Ukraine imported 275 million kWh of electricity in July 2019. According to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, the import flows took place in two directions from Belarus to Integrated Power System of Ukraine and from ENTSO-E to Burshtyn TPP Energy Island.
The export of electricity for 7 months 2019 totaled 3.542 billion kWh, this amount was by 2.3% or 84.5 million kWh lower than the export for 7 months 2018.
In July 2019 the electricity export stood at 494 million kWh, being by 24.8% higher than the same indicator in July 2018. Thus, the import was at the rate of 55.7% of the export.
As ExPro reported, the commercial import transactions appered at the beginning of the launching of the new electricity market design. The first transactions into Burshtyn TPP Energy Island were carried out by ERY Trading. The bargain took place on July 1, 2019. Further D.Trading, which is a part of energy holding DTEK announced about its plans to import electricity in Ukraine. Both these companies have started to import electricity from Belarus since July 10, 2019.
According to the national TSO Ukrenergo, the maximal available import flow from Belarus to Ukraine is 7.3 billion kWh, from ENTSO-E to Burshtyn TPP Energy Island is 5.76 billion kWh, from Russia and Moldova to Integrated Power System of Ukraine is 10.512 and 3.504 billion kWh respectively.
