Ukraine Imported 2.7 Billion kWh of Electricity in the Second Half of 2019
Ukraine imported 2.698 billion kWh of electricity for July-December 2019, in the same period the export was 3.418 billion kWh, TSO Ukrenergo’ data show.
In December 2019 the import was 449.5 million kWh, it was 24% less than the indicator in November 2019. Over the second half of 2019, the largest import volume was observed in November, it reached 660.9 million kWh.
The export of electricity in December was 713.6 million kWh, it was 35.4% bigger than the indicator in the corresponding period of 2019 and 13.5% larger than in November 2019.
As ExPro reported, the import shipments of electricity in Ukraine have been taking place since July 2019. In July the volume of import was 274.6 thousand kWh, it was growing month by month and reached 601.2 thousand kWh in October 2019.
Grid constraints of the electricity import flow have been starting since the middle of November 2019 because of electricity consumption decrease on the back of comparatively the warm weather. In November 2019 the volume of the import (661 million kWh) exceeded the export (629 million kWh) for the first time.
